Hamish.Smith@op.ac.nz

Hamish has been teaching computing since 1994 and teaching at Otago Polytechnic since 2007. Since 2009, his roles have been split between Programme Manager / Team Leader and teaching in the fields of software packages, computer networking, hardware, operating systems and project development. Hamish is involved in his local church, as well as other community involvement. He has a passion for supporting his local communities.

This project consisted of two interactive digital tools, one simulating a colony of ants and one allowing users to explore a large collection of digital images. The first project was installed at the Otago Museum, and the second at the Otago Settlers Museum. I co-supervised this student Capstone project.

This project saw the development of a digital simulation of an agricultural environment. Users were able to manipulate various farm management protocols, such a fertiliser application and location of shelter belts, and observe the predicted effect on a variety of measures of environmental health including water quality and biological diversity. I co-supervised this student Capstone project.

ISSN 1176-8053. 4 - 7 July. The EduVaka tool is designed to teach literacy and numeracy to preschool-aged children using Pacifica themes. I co-supervised this student Capstone project.
